The land was purchased from the Edger family on April 23, 2007 by a partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to preserve wetlands and grasslands for waterfowl and other wildlife. The land is open to bird watching, hiking, shot gun hunters (in season)and hunting dogs (See photo for restrictions.) Care should be taken during hunting season. It is always a good idea to wear blaze orange of other such colors while visiting this area.
