In the 1890s, this fenced but abandoned lot must have looked like many other churchyard cemeteries. This cemetery and the first church building were opened in 1878. Elizabeth, wife of the Anglican minister Henry Petley, was buried here.
In 2016, markers survive for only six burials. There is no signage. The concrete stairs for the original church remain in place. Vegetation grows thick and tall.
Even though, I saw someone cutting weeds a couple of days after I photographed the site, I am still marking the cemetery as abandoned.
From the Church of England mission registers, we know that more than thirty-five individuals were buried here.
