This old chimney is of a round type, not often seen in Portugal.

Built in typical materials, tile, brick and stone, this is a circular chimney adapted from the typical Portuguese rectangular design. It's not easily seen being 'round the back' of No.3/5 Praça da República. The best view is from Alameda 25 de Abril by the old municipal market.
The building next door at No.1 is occupied by the G.N.R. - Guarda Nacional Republicana, the National Republican Guard.
