In the Shelburne village of Shelburne Falls, at one end of the Shelburne Falls Dam, is this survey control disk planted by a surveying company.
The disk is located on the Shelburne side of the falls, off Deerfield Avenue and west of an observation area. It is at the north end of a dam that stretches across the river.
The disk is a light metal about 4 inches in diameter, set in concrete. On the surface is the following:
"James W. Sewall Company - Old Town, Maine
Survey Control Point
Do Not Disturb"
19
There is a hole near the center.
I am guessing that '19' is a serial number, but I'm not sure.
