Phelps Mountain is the 32nd highest of the 46 High Peaks in the Adirondacks.

To reach Phelps Mountain, follow the Van Hoevenberg Trail from Adirondack Loj as if your destination was Mount Marcy. You will encounter a trail junction roughly one mile beyond Marcy Dam (N 44 9.097 W 073 56.141) From there the summit is one very steep mile away.
There are no survey markers or other permenant indicators of the exact location of the summit. I did find a drill mark in the bedrock that suggests a survey marker had once existed. A small cairn was assembled near it and a tiny American flag had recently been placed as well.
Views from the ledge at the summit include Mount Marcy and mountains south, east and west.
