Esther Mountain is one of the 46 High Peaks in the Adirondacks, named after Esther McComb of Troy, NY who, In 1939 and at the age of 15, recorded the first ascent of this peak while trying to climb Whiteface from the north. A plaque marking the summit memorializes Esther McComb.
This is considered a trail less peak. The herd path from the Whiteface Mountain trail junction (N 44 22.658 W 073 53.006) in officially unmaintained, however there are some well placed puncheons in the boggy spots.
