This state park has lifeguards for the swimming area (roped off). There is food by the beach and lots of tables.

"Verona Beach State Park, located on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake, is a picnicker's and camper's delight. Shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with an excellent view of the water."
There were lots of boats near shore; it was shallow enough for them to wade by the boat. There were also birds on a sandbar.
Many people had picnic areas under the trees with tables. The number of people swamp the ability of the food service to keep up on July 4th, so it was good that people brought their own food. There is a large parking lot which was enough for the crowd. The camping area is near the beach also, a quieter option. There is a pavilion, where load music was playing.
