MX0152 - USC&GS 'W 494' BM - Siskiyou County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Recovered in good condition as described in the NGS datasheet. There is a metal witness post near this BM for easier recovery. I had to climb over a barbed wire fence to get to this station. This BM is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 3481'. My more accurate coordinates should place you very close to this station.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 3.3 MI NE FROM WEED. 0.2 MILE WEST ALONG ALAMO STREET FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD STATION AT WEED, THENCE 3.1 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 97, ON THE TOP OF A ROCKY CUT BANK, IN THE TOP OF A LARGE BOULDER PROJECTING 3 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, 251 1/2 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTHEAST END OF A WOODEN GATE, 218 FEET NORTH OF A FENCE CORNER POST, 62.3 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 11.5 FEET NORTHWEST OF A WIRE FENCE, 122.7 FEET EAST (SLOPE MEASURMENT) OF THE EAST EDGE OF THE MOST PROMINENT BOULDER ON THE HILLSIDE, AND ABOUT 12 FEET HIGHER THAN THE HIGHWAY.
