Wo Hing Chinese Museum is located at 858 Front Street in Lahaina. In the early 1900s, Lahaina's Chinese formed the Wo Hing Society, which had over a hundred members, some of whom lived in the buildings across Front Street. They built a temple and social hall in 1912, which is now a Lahaina Restoration Foundation museum. The cookhouse is a wooden structure located in the backyard of the property for fire security.

The sign is written in both Chinese and English language, It reads:

"The cookhouse
Special functions were an important part of the activities of the Wo Hing Society. So, the cookhouse played a key role in providing food for the members as well as offerings for the altar. In typically local style, it was detached from the main building to reduce the risk of fire.
The cooking utensils on display are original, saved through the years and discovered in the temple attic. Cooking was done in large woks in the fire pits using local kiawe wood (mesquite) as fuel. The last official use occured in 1948 at the wedding of Gertrude Chung, granddaughter of founder Chung Koon You. The reopening of the Wo Hing Temple was celebrated on December 16, 1984, when over 200 guests enjoyed a feast of Chinese dishes prepared in traditional fashion using the original fire pits and cooking utensils."
