The text below is taken from The Ottawa Journal newspaper, 29 March 1978, page 65.

In hospital on Friday, March 17, 1978, George Broadhead, husband of the late Jane Higgins, in his 103rd year, father of Mrs. Eric Eardley (Rilla), Ottawa; also survived by grandson David and two great-grandsons Christopher and Michael. Private service was held at Pinecrest cemetery chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment Pinecrest cemetery.

According to the Ontario marriage registration, George W Broadhead (son of John W Broadhead and Maria Holt) married Jean Higgins in Peel county, 7 September 1904.
