Das Denkmal wurde vom deutschen Maler und Bildhauer Hans Karl Alfred Voelckerling (1872-1945) geschaffen und 1922 das erste Mal in Grimma aufgestellt. Es zeigt einen trauerenden zu Boden blickenden Soldaten des Husaren-Regiment Nr. 19 mit seinen Pferd. Im Jahr 1945 wurde das Denkmal demontiert und erst 1990 wiedererrichtet. Auf dem Sockel steht:

Auf der linken Seite des Sockels befindet sich ein Relief des säschsischen Wappens, auf der rechten Seite ein Relief des Wappens von Grimma.

ENGLISH:
The monument was designed by the German painter and sculptor Hans Karl Alfred Voelckerling (1872-1945). It was erected in 1922 in Grimma. The monument shows a Hussars, who is looking dolorous to the ground, with his horse. In 1945, the monument was dismantled and re-erected in 1990. On the left side of the base is the coat of arms of Saxony, on the right side the coat of arms of Grimma.
