The small village Zbudov lies on the border of marshland called Zbudovská Blata (Zbudov Marshland) in the northern part of the Ceskobudejovická Pánev (Ceské Budejovice Basin) about 5 km north-west of the small town Zliv, 390 m a.s.l.

This area was a domain of Lords of Hradec in the 16th century. A rebellion started here because of a dispute between the owners and the peasants. The leader of the rebels Jakub Kubata was executed in 1581. Several places in the surroundings were named after this events, e.g. Soudný Potok (Judgement Stream), Kubatova Blata (Kubata's Marshland), etc.

Ves Zbudov leží na okraji území známého jako Zbudovská blata v severozápadní cásti Ceskobudejovické pánve asi 5 km severozápadne od mestecka Zliv v okrese Ceské Budejovice v nadmorské výšce 390 m.

Celá oblast Zbudovských blat byla v 16. století soucástí majetku pánu z Hradce. Ti chteli zabránit sedlákum v užívání blat, k nemuž získali právo od predchozí vrchnosti. Tehdy nastaly spory a selské boure, pri jejichž potlacení byl vudce sedláku, zbudovský rychtár Jakub Kubata roku 1581 popraven. Na základe techto událostí získaly nekteré lokality v okolí Zbudova místní pojmenování (Soudný potok, Kubatova blata).
