In Civic Hospital, Ottawa, on Friday, December 28, 1984, in his 102nd year. Alfred Bassett of 421 Mayfair Avenue, beloved husband of the late Matilda Forgie and dear father of Mrs. Jean McConnell and George, both of Ottawa. Grandfather of Garth McConnell (and his wife Louise). Great-grandfather of Kenneth. Brother of Mrs. Emily Welch of Ottawa, Mrs. Nellie Woods of Victoria and the late Mary and Harry. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road (between Island Park Drive and Woodroffe Avenue) on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
According to the Ontario marriage registration (1911 #002153), Alfred George Bassett (son of Richard Bassett, stableman, and Elizabeth Hale) married Matilda Campbell Forgie in Ottawa, 15 July 1911.
