The castle was first mentioned in 1222 under the name Dewiczky as a border lordly castle in royal possession. It survives even the name of his first burgrave. Was it Stepan from Medlov († 1235), founder of the noble family Pernsteins while manager Veverí castle. After they became the burgrave Austrian nobleman Lipolt Hardegg and in 1244 Crha of Ceblovice. During their správcování they came to the county group of German colonists. According to a report from Pulkavovy Chronicle was Crha Austrians captured and though he was plucking out an eye, the enemy castle has gone before.

At first, the building was probably wooden. Between the years 1247-1294 is about this lordly castle references and it seems that it could be destroyed during a raid Kuman in 1253. The castle was restored in the late 13th century during the reign of King Wenceslas II. In 1334 by King John of Luxembourg castle fief Liechtenstein. In this period there was probably rebuilt and the construction of a small ward. During the siege of Vienna by the Turks in 1529 to strengthen fortifications. In 1572 he bought the entire estate of Mikulov Adam Dietrichstein. His son Sigismund as their seat castle was rebuilt and modified main living area. During reconstruction was used and a large amount of bricks. This resulted in irregular rectangular building with a length of about 65 meters, whose coat had a width of 2 m. On a nearby rock was a Renaissance bastion.

During the Thirty Years War, the castle was occupied by the Swedish army, which stretched after winning the battle of Jankov Vienna. When leaving the Swedish crew were looted and torched. Dietrichstein took care of the most urgent repairs and the castle until a fire in 1744, used as a guarding stronghold. He then served as the gatehouse to report fires. His final abandonment occurred later than the beginning of the 19th century. Then gradually fell into disrepair.
