The following information is from his Florida Times-Union obituary:

"ATTAWAY Rowe Eugene Attaway died Saturday, July 3, 2010. He was born April 4, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida. Just before he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School he enlisted in the Army. He served in Viet Nam and Germany as a paratrooper in Special Forces, obtaining the rank Sgt/Major. Rowe later retired after 27 years and lived in France and Germany before returning to the States in 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Nellie Attaway, and his wife, Yvette, who was the mother of his children. He is survived by his wife Barbara Moon Attaway, his son, Lauren Attaway; daughter, Fabienne Bee (Eric), and their children Alex and Madeleine; his step-children, James K. Walker (Jimi), JoAnn Skinner (Paul), Nancy Roberts (Mark), Melinda Cone, and Karen Moon. He is also survived by Barbara's grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Doctor's Lake Healthcare. Rowe was still in contact with many of the men he served with in VII Corp, Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, and their bond was like a brotherhood. To them, for him: 'Airborne!!! All The Way!!!' Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Town and Country Chapel, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Military Honor will follow at Riverside Memorial Park."
