"Soil erosion from eight continuous days of rain caused a sinkhole to open up in Moraga in March, prompting evacuations of more than 400 people and disrupting gas service for around 2,600 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers, city officials said.
The city announced the results of a report on Thursday detailing the cause of the 15-foot wide by 20-foot long by 15-foot deep hole that swallowed a sidewalk on Rheem Boulevard near Center Street on March 13. A light pole fell into the hole and broke a 4-inch gas distribution line, temporarily leaving thousands without service." (visit link)
