If it were winter, I can imagine seeing kids skating here.

Near the Meeting-House old Great Rd. becomes Smithneld Ave. in the
village of Saylesville, a residential area for many workers employed in the textile mills of Lonsdale which is a little to the northeast (L), and the governmental center for the township of Lincoln (see Tour 4C). On Smithfield Ave. are Barney's Pond, 2.2 m. (R), and Sayles Pond, 2.4 m. (L), where gaily clad children skate in wintertime.

Catching the father and son fishing was the perfect backdrop for Barney Pond. The dam area looks to be recently renovated in similar fashion to the Butterfly Pond area up the street.
