A fundação do Convento da Orada é de 1670 e ficou a dever-se aos Agostinhos Descalços que albergou até aos princípios do séc. XIX.

A sua construção começou em 1700, pelo prior João Calvário, tendo na altura ficado inacabado até ser finalmente inaugurado em 1741.

O Ingresso exterior ao perímetro do convento faz-se pelo Arco de Nª Sª da Guia que delimitava a cerca.

Com fachada sóbria, desenha-se de uma forma retangular, dividida por pilastras de xisto. A entrada principal que dá acesso à igreja e lateralmente ao convento, rasga-se um nártex ladeado por duas janelas. Ao nível superior três janelões, sendo o conjunto encimado por frontão curvo.

É uma imponente construção de planta quadrada com claustro central.

A talha que reveste o interior da igreja, terminada em 1755, conserva parte da sua concepção original de ornatos e festões vegetalistas, arquitecturas e tabelas.

Na época em que a “Fundação Convento da Orada“ foi instituída, o Convento da Orada não passava de uma ruína. Por isso, entre 1988 e 1993, a actividade da Fundação centrou-se quase exclusivamente no restauro e na reabilitação do próprio espaço. Com total obediência às técnicas tradicionais e ao traçado do edifício, as obras de recuperação do Convento da Orada constituíram uma verdadeira escola de recuperação do património, que proporcionou a centena de alunos de licenciatura e Mestrado de Arquitectura, uma impera aprendizagem teórica e práticas das técnicas construtivas tradicionais. A revitalização do Convento da Orada, incluiu também, a recuperação de toda a sua envolvência.

The foundation of the Oratory of the Convent is 1670 and was due to the Discalced Augustinians that housed until the beginning of the century. XIX.

The carvings lining the inside of the church, completed in 1755, retains part of its original design ornaments and plant festoons, architectures and tables.

By the time the 'Convent of Oratory Foundation' was established, the Convent of Oratory was just a ruin. Therefore, between 1988 and 1993, the Foundation's activity has focused almost exclusively on restoration and rehabilitation of space itself. With full compliance with traditional techniques and building layout, the works of Orada Convent recovery constituted a real heritage of the recovery school, which provided the hundred undergraduate students and Architecture Master a prevailing theoretical learning and technical practices traditional building. The revitalization of the Convent of Oratory, also included the recovery of all its surroundings.
