"The stone dial plate is mounted in the gable above the south porch. The gnomon, possibly a replacement, is an iron bar bent to a rounded end. The condition of the dial is fair for its age, all furniture still being clear. Across the top is the date 1710. In a semi-circle around the gnomon root is ‘TEMPUS FUG’ with possibly an additional small ‘t’ to indicate the abbreviation. Upright Arabic numerals 6am to 6pm, with a Greek cross for noon. Flat-topped ’8' and ’3' and a closed ’4'. Hour lines to the semi-circle, short half-hour marks."
