The plaque says, "In this church yard reset the remains of many of the comrades in arms, intimate friends and fellow masons of George Washington.
Amon them sleeps an unknown soldier of the Revolutionary Army. TO these, as a memorial, the wall around this sacred enclosure was erected with fund subscribed by members of the society of the sons of the Revolution throughout the nation under the direction of a special committee from the society in the District of Columbia."
