The torch is at the entrance to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and is a permanent reminder of the Summer games that the site hosted twice. The track and field events were held here. This is also the place where the opining and closing ceremonies took place.

"The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, designed by John and Donald Parkinson, is at the end of the mall."
