Ezinge is een radiair wierdedorp dat wereldberoemd is geworden door de succesvolle opgravingen die professor A. E. van Giffen hier in de jaren twintig en dertig van de 20e eeuw uitvoerde. Hij groef het onbebouwde deel van de wierde af en vond in iedere grondlaag resten van prehistorische boerderijen (tot 600 v. Chr.). Op het overgebleven deel van de hoogte staat de romaanse kerk met losstaande toren uit het begin van de 13e eeuw, beide nog bijna ongewijzigd sinds de bouw. Ook het interieur van het bedehuis bevat veel oude elementen. In 1886 is de kosterswoning tegen de toren gebouwd De oudste woningen op de wierde dateren van de 18e eeuw (Torenstraat). In de 19e eeuw breidde de bewoning zich uit van de wierde richting het oosten en langs het in 1825 gegraven Oldehoofsche kanaal. Ten noordoosten van Ezinge staat sinds de 15e eeuw de meermalen verbouwde en uitgebreide Allersmaborg.

Ezinge is a circular or radial mound village that has become world famous from the successful excavations Professor E. A. Giffen performed here in the 1920s and '30s of the 20th century. He dug around the undeveloped part of the mound and discovered remains of prehistoric farms (dating back to 600 BC) in every layer of ground. In the remaining part of the mound is a Romanesque church with a freestanding tower, dating from the early 13th century, both almost unchanged since their construction. The interior of the house of prayer also contains many original features. In 1886 the sexton's house was built against the tower; the oldest houses on the mound date from the 18th century (Torenstraat). In the 19th century, the settlement expanded from the mound toward the east and along the Oldehoofsche Canal, dug in 1825. The northeast of Ezinge has been renovated several times since the 15th century and expanded Allersmaborg.
