The original Roseburg National Cemetery resides to the south and across the Umpqua River from this recently-opened veterans cemetery annex which was once a private golf course as part of the VA Hospital grounds. The golf course closed in 2010-2011 and the land was dedicated to expanding the cemetery here. Veteran headstones have been placed in a few key areas and will expand from there to allow veterans and their loved ones to be buried. The original Roseburg National Cemetery was established in 1897.
