This Grade II* listed church is of late C12th build, altered in the C14th and a north aisle added in c1895. It has the standard west tower to the central aisle, and partial aisles to the chancel built of squared coursed limestone with gritstone dressings. The roofs are slate with decorative ridge tiles.

The font is at the eastern end of the nave to the left of the tower arch in a small alcove. It dates from the mid-C12th and is of the typical plain cylindrical shape associated with that period. It has been mounted on a much younger octagonal pillar with chamfered top and bottom, the top chamfer leading into a circular base for the bowl.
