Location of jail: Downing Depot Museum, fairgrounds, 1 block W. of MO A (Stone St.), Downing

This jail was moved from its original location as was everything else here.

"The depot is now used as a museum. Primitive:tools & farm equipment are housed in the E section with display cases, artifacts, photos & memorabilia located in the W section. The center section is a storage area. Located in a park setting, the depot now sits less than 1/4 mile from the railroad tracks on a hill & faces N. It is in the SW part of the rural community of Downing. Outbuildings include a small wooden outbuilding to the SE; a restroom facility & the small city jail, which has been moved to this site, to the E of the depot; and a gravel parking area & metal storage shed to the N." ~ NRHP Nomination Form
