Der Altvaterturm ist ein 35,8 m hoher Aussichtsturm auf dem Wetzstein, einem Berg im Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thüringen.

After the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia in 1945/46 founded Heimatfreunde from the Jeseníky 1976 Altvaterturm club Langgöns e . V. The association established in 1999 to collapsed on May 2, 1959, and not rebuilt tower on the Altvater ( Praded ) faithfully on the whetstone as a memorial of the expulsion . The new site was chosen because it is close to the natural conditions of the Jeseníky Mountains .
After it had given in 1995 first contacts with the town Lehesten , issued in October 1998, the Thuringian State Administration Office building permit . On April 11, 1999, the groundbreaking ceremony , on 21 May 2000, the foundation stone was laid , and on 1 November 2000 start of construction . The topping out ceremony was celebrated on 11 May 2002 and inaugurated the tower on 28 and 29 August of 2004.
