Right off Newmarket St is a small park with a monument. John Sullivan's house is located down the same driveway.

5. The Home of General John Sullivan (not open) (L), on the south bank of the river on a terraced slope edging the water, is a large white, gambrel-roof house. Sullivan was distinguished as a brigadier general in the Revolutionary War and as chief executive of New Hampshire with the title of President from 1786 to 1790. Built 1716, the house was purchased by Sullivan in 1764.

Located on the banks of the Oyster River is a house built by Dr. Samuel Adams in the period 1729-41. This house was his residence until he died in 1762. John Sullivan purchased the dwelling and resided here until his death in 1795. It is a 2 story L-shaped wood framed structure with a central chimney. It is covered by clapboards. The house was restored in 1966 and is in excellent condition. It is a private residence today.
