Rising - Toronto, ON - Figurative Public Sculpture on Waymarking.com

Rising is a striking sculpture by Chinese artist Zhang Huan. It is located in the lobby and on the exterior of the Shangri-La hotel on University Avenue in downtown Toronto.

It took two years to complete, being formally unveiled 25 May, 2012. The artist completed the work in Shanhai, and then had it shipped to Toronto, whee it was reassembled. At its highest, the piece rises almost 22 meters (72 feet) outside and 4.3 Meters (14 feet) inside, where it spans along the interior walls.
