Historie sboru
Když se v osmdesátých letech 19. století zacaly pod tlakem boskovického hejtmanství zakládat hasicské sbory, bylo zastupitelstvo obce Sloup vyzváno k nákupu požární stríkacky. Také k tomu vedly zkušenosti po dvou velkých požárech v letech 1882 a 1884. Z financních duvodu se tak stalo až v roce 1893. Samotný sbor dobrovolných hasicu byl založen až v roce 1894, jako jeden z prvních spolku v obci. Sbor tehdy tvorilo 31 clenu a už v roce 1897 byla obcí zakoupena ctyrkolová rucní stríkacka.
Pri odchodu vetšiny sloupských hasicu na frontu 1. svetové války se velení ujal tehdejší starosta obce Ferdinand Veselý a pro zásah vycvicil skupinu mladých chlapcu a devcat, kterí pomáhali pri požárech v sousední Šošuvce a Vavrinci. Po skoncení války byl Ferdinand Veselý zvolen starostou sboru a velitelem se stal syn hajného Josef Svoboda. V krátké dobe bylo sestaveno a vycviceno družstvo lezcu a družstvo „stríkacníku“. Tehdy sbor cítal kolem 20ti aktivních a radu prispívajících clenu.
Výjezdu k požárum se zpravidla úcastnilo 15 dobre vycvicených hasicu, a tak se Sloup stal brzo centrem hasicské cinnosti a také hasicským okrskem. V dobe první republiky zasahovali sloupští hasici prevážne v okolních obcích, ve Sloupu horelo jen dvakrát. Rozsáhlý požár zasáhl sloupský mlýn v srpnu roku 1930.
S príchodem 2. svetové války byla zákazem schuzí a verejných cvicení cinnost hasicu utlumena. Po válce se ale opet pokracovalo a za pusobení velitele Františka Padery byla zakoupena první motorová stríkacka, zhotovená z válecného automobilu Horch. V roce 1953 byl poruchový Horch nahrazen agregátem DS 16.
Problém s umístením hasicské techniky se podaril vyrešit pod vedením velitele Miloše Boudy v roce 1961, kdy byla dostavena hasicská zbrojnice, místo pro tehdy nove zakoupenou Tatru 805. O hasicskou organizaci byl velký zájem, clenská základna cítala kolem 60ti clenu, a pod Boudovým velením byla vycvicena nejen zásahová jednotka, ale také šesticlenné družstvo žen.
V šedesátých letech horelo ve Sloupu nekolikrát, nejtežší zásah na Velikonocní pondelí r. 1968, kdy horelo prímo v centru obce. Pod velením Michala Horbala se zásahu, krome místních, úcastnili i hasici z okolních vesnic a profesionální jednotka z Blanska.
S dobou se hasicum v obci dostávalo vetší vážnosti, pracovali v místní samospráve, starali se o techniku a také požární prevenci. Po roce 1968 se „cervený kohout“ Sloupu vyhýbal, ale jejich práce bylo stále potreba, napr. pri pomoci speleologum uvezneným v Amatérské jeskyni v r. 1970.
