Anna Matilda Goen was born on 19 January 1904 to Isaac Newton Goen (1862-1927) and Lucy Alice Eoff Goen (1871-1946). From her headstone, we can make the reasonable assumption that she first married a Dodson. There are several Dodsons buried in this cemetery, two of which would have been of a proper age to have been a spouse for Anna. (James died in 1941 and John died in 1953.)

Her (final) husband was Ed Burkey (1894-1965), who is buried with his first wife Mildred (1902-1958) in Center Cemetery, also in Jasper County. Anna outlived Ed by about 44 years, passing away on 6 October 2009, well over 105 years old.
