As best I can tell some trapper in the 1800s called the area "Beaverton" because of the large number of beavers he was trapping here. Later, 1910, it was used for the town name.

"According to our research of Alabama and other state lists there were 7 registered sex offenders living in Beaverton, Alabama as of November 15, 2015.
The ratio of number of residents in Beaverton to the number of sex offenders is 28 to 1.
"Sargent Major U. S. Army David Leon Raines, 68 of Beaverton, Oregon passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 .He was born and raised in Cherokee County and attended school at CherokeeHhigh. He enlisted in the Army in 1964" ~ City-data.com
