Eight million Germans died In the two World Wars of the 20th century. Every town in Germany has some sort of monument for the people who couldn't be buried at home but perished at some far away battle field.

Even a small 120-souls-hamlet like Sorge in the Harz Mountains has a monument mourning its losses. But instead of glorifying the sacrifices - as many of the other monuments do - the stone erected in Sorge only bears one simple message:

The dead of two World Wars
urge us to keep Peace.

We couldn't agree more!

Text on Monument/Memorial Sign or Plaque:
German: Die Toten zweier Weltkriege mahnen zum Frieden. (The dead of two World Wars urge us to keep Peace)
