These coat of arms are formed from cobblestones on the floor of the square in front of the Church of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The church was Commissioned by the Bishop D. António Pereira da Silva and planned by Friar Manuel da Conceição, a member of the Carmelite Order from Lisbon, the construction began in 1713 and was concluded in 1719.
In front of the church is an open square with a cobbled surface. The cobbles, a mixture of a dark and light colours have been laid to form patterns including in this case the coat of arms of the Municipality of Faro.
The Coat of Arms
The coat of arms are made up of a shield with a castle in the centre standing on a field. Above the castle is between the two towers is the figure of the Virgin Mary with a gold star to her left.
Above the shield are five gold towers.

Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CIDADE DE FARO".
