EN: This statue of Jesus stands next to the main entrance of Christ Church in Rheinfelden. It was created in 1937 by Otto Schneider and ercted to the consecration of the church. On the pedestal is the inscription: "I am come to send fire on the earth".

Although the statue shows a combative attitude and stylistically corresponds to the understanding of art of National Socialism, the NSDAP district leadership tried to prevent the erection of the figure. The statue had to be hidden until two days before the inauguration, but later it remained untouched.

DE: Diese Statue von Jesus steht neben dem Haupteingang der Christuskirche in Rheinfelden. Sie wurde 1937 von Otto Schneider geschaffen und zur Einweihung der Kirche aufgestellt. Auf dem Sockel ist die Inschrift: "Ich bin gekommen, ein Feuer anzuzünden auf Erden".

Obwohl die Statue eine kämpferische Haltung zeigt und stilistisch dem Kunstverständnis des Nationalsozialismus entspricht, versuchte die NSDAP-Kreisleitung, das Aufstellen der Figur zu verhindern. Die Statue musste bis zwei Tage vor der Einweihung versteckt werden, danach blieb sie aber unangetastet.
