DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 43.7 MI N FROM ODELL LAKE LODGE. ALONG ELK LAKE ROAD, 3.8 MILES NORTH OF ELK LAKE RANGER STATION, 24 FEET EAST OF CENTER LINE OF ROAD, 2.5 FEET ABOVE ROAD LEVEL IN OUTCROP. WITNESS POST SET.
This description is out of date but the location is correctly shown on the USGS South Sister quadrangle. From the Devils Lake Trailhead follow the Elk-Devils Trail (#12) for about a mile and a half. The cap is located along the old road trace at the base of a short grade below a thru cut.
