The former hospital features a decorative frieze around the top of the building which is very distinctive.

The building was built in 1911 by Dr. Walter Hanz Allen. After his death, Dr. N.D. Buie continued running the hospital until 1966. Over the years the building has had many uses. It was apartments in 2014 when a fire broke out. The building received significant damage, firefighters said. The people living in the building, were not injured.
