Mise en service le 20 septembre 1886, la ligne à voie unique desservait 3 fois par jour les gares de Châtellerault, Châteauneuf, Scorbé-clairvaux, St Genest d’Ambière, Lencloître, Cernay-Doussay, Savigny-sous-Faye, Berthegon, Monts sur Guesnes, Le Bouchet, La Bourdigalière et Loudun ce qui représente une distance d’une cinquantaine de kilomètres. Le trajet complet durait entre 1h30 et 3h. Le train permettait le transport rapide des productions locales : le vin de Berthegon, le bois produit par la forêt de Scévolles et les légumes de la vallée de l’Envigne. Le trafic marchandises s’est arrêté en 1985. La ligne a été officiellement déclassée le 26 septembre 1992.
Depuis 2001, la Ligne Verte, accessible aux cyclistes et marcheurs, suit sur 37 kilomètres le tracé de la ligne chemin de fer. C’est un endroit privilégié pour la faune et la flore et à la bonne saison vous y verrez certainement plusieurs espèces d’orchidées.

Commissioning September 20, 1886 , the single track line served 3 times a day the stations of Chatellerault, Chateauneuf - Scorbé clairvaux , Ambière of St Genest , Lencloître Cernay - Doussay , Savigny-sous-Faye , Berthegon , Mountains sur Guesnes , Le Bouchet, The Bourdigalière and Loudun which represents a distance of fifty kilometers . The entire trip lasted 3 hours between 1:30 ET . The train allowed the rapid transport of local products : wine Berthegon , wood produced by the forest Scévolles and vegetables Envigne Valley. Freight traffic stopped in 1985. The line was officially decommissioned on Sept. 26, 1992 .
Since 2001, the Green Line , accessible to cyclists and walkers on 37 km following the route of the railway line. It is a privileged place for wildlife and good season you will surely see
