Schliecher county was created in 1887 and organized in 1901. This old jail obviously does not match the courthouse, built in 1902. So it very well may have served as the courthouse AND jail for Schliecher County during the 1887-1901 period.
The waymark is a medallion on the south side of the old Schliecher County Jail on the east side of the Schleicher County Courthouse grounds.
