St. Andrew's has been designated a Municipal Heritage Property by the County of Annapolis. Though the county's small article on the church (below) tells us that the church was built between 1844 and 1850, the heritage plaque indicates a date of construction of Circa 1843. Close enough, we suppose.

As is the case with many other smaller churches throughout the province, it was diminishing attendance which forced the closure of the church. Since its closure it has been sold into private hands on at least one occasion.

CBC News picked up on the fact that St. Andrew's Church is again for sale, the second time in less than two years. Their news story is reproduced in part below.

The asking price is only $22,000, a bargain in anyone's view. The church does, however, need a bit of work as, though it has recently been reroofed, previous leakage has left damage. Too, the church has neither plumbing nor insulation.

Built sometime between 1844 and 1850, St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Lawrencetown, represents a stylistic marriage of a Gothic Revival building with Neo Classical decorative elements.

The Gothic Revival arrangement of square bell tower, nave and chancel, with Early English - type pointed windows to the nave and chancel, is coupled with Neo Classical pedimented gables and the unique polygonal drum and dome that cap the bell tower.

St. Andrew's Anglican Church is a registered Municipal Heritage Property in the Municipality of Annapolis County, officially registered, August 18, 1992.

It would make a nice little seasonal home, the real estate agent tells a caller — and with pews included, there will be plenty of place for company to sit.

The former St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lawrencetown, a registered municipal heritage property built in the 1840s, is up for sale for $22,000.

It is one of a slew of churches that have come on the market in Nova Scotia over the years.

In many cases, dwindling congregations and expensive upkeep costs have led to closure and sale.

A number of Anglican churches have been sold, including St. Matthew's, which in 2011 was loaded onto a barge and ferried along the Minas Basin to its new home at Avondale Sky Winery.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Antigonish is shuttering more than a dozen, while the United Church has amalgamated congregations in the Annapolis Valley and sold some churches.

It was deconsecrated in 2008 and is now owned by Michael Bailey, a wildlife conservationist from Victoria, B.C.
