This depot served the town of Carona, Kansas on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. It was built in the 1940s and served until the early 1960s. It was then purchased, moved away from the railroad, and used as a hay barn. The John Thompson family acquired the depot and gave it to the Heartlands organization, who had it moved back along the rail line with the help of organization members and volunteers.

You can check the organization web site for happenings at the depot, including periodic train rides. Also located at the site is a small depot moved from Boston, Missouri. A yard engine from Pittsburg, KS, number 1023, was moved to this location back in March of 2012.
