In the night of 9th July 1943 an interesting episode occurred in the skies of Portugal. Four German Fock-Wulf Condor based in France were patrolling the Atlantic ocean, seeking for Allied convoys. There were attacked by RAF airplanes coming from Gibraltar and one of them crashed on the cliffs near the small town of Aljezur. The crew died as a consequence of the crash, and the bodies were buried in the tiny Aljezur's cemetery:

Feldwebel Nicolaus, Günther (Pilot).
Unteroffizier Weigert, Hans (Co-Pilot).
Unteroffizier Riecke, Werner.
Unteroffizier Beck, Walter.
Obergefreiter Herprich, Ernst.
Unteroffizier Angermann, Martin.
Feldwebel Bauer, Johann B
