Rebecca Arms in died in a house fire in 1768. She is buried in the Old Deerfield Burying Ground in historic Deerfield, MA.

In 1768, Rebecca Arms, the wife of William Arms, died when her house burned in 1768. Tradition has grown about her death. It is said that "she was buried under an avalanche of grain from the upper story and that only her hands were burned."

Her grave has a brownstone grave marker which has a small triangle at the top with a death head image. The gravestone is inscribed:

On the 12th day of May
1768 the house of Mr.
William Arms was Con-
sumed in fire: And his
Wife Mrs. Rebecca Arms
unhappily perish'd in the
Flames in the 70th year
of her age.

She was ? Fear'd God
& Lov'd the Redeemer, was a Sin-
gular Example of Piety: who by
a devout walk (was)? a Bright Or-
nament to the Christian Religion
And her Death Great Gain.
