Depicting the focal points of the Grand Marais community, these four paintings combine to form a mural on the alley side of the Birchbark Book Store. Images include the Grand Marais Lighthouse, the Northhouse Folk School’s sailboat “Hjordis,” the iconic moose often spotted off the Gunflint Trail, and resorts of the northwoods where canoeing is a popular activity. They were painted by muralist Timothy Young of the Grand Marais Art Colony in 2015.
