This scenic overlook is part of the 4 km scenic hike in the You Yangs National Park that goes up and around Flinders Peak (311 m). Views to Mt Macedon in the north, and Port Philip and Melbourne to the south east.

Flinders peak was subsequently named (~1850) from being named Station Peak by Matthew Flinders, who had climbed it in 1802 as part of a circumnavigation survey charting of Australia.
