The lavoir in the town of Vers Pont de Gard was the starting point for our walk to Pont de Gard.

The town's covered lavoir was in excellent condition, bubbling with spring water, ideal for washing clothes in times past. Note the date 1885. We don't normally pay much attention to lavoirs as they are such a common feature in villages in France but this one was special as the flow of spring water demonstrated the raison d'etre for the nearby famous Pont de Gard.
