Formed from Lamar and Nacogdoches Counties Created March 25, 1846 Organized July 13, 1846 Named in Honor of the Pioneer Hopkins Family Which Came to Texas from Kentucky and Indiana County Seat, Tarrant, 1846-1858 Sulphur Springs, Since.
