The inscription says, "(Inscribed on face:) MAJOR MURRAY DAVIS, D.S.C./KILLED IN ACTION AT EXERMONT FRANCE/SEPTEMBER TWENTY NINTH MCMXVIII/SERIOUSLY WOUNDED HE REFUSED TO/RELINQUISH HIS COMMAND UNTIL MOR-/TALLY WOUNDED HE FELL LEADING HIS/COMRADES TO VICTORY HIS LAST WORDS/"TAKE CARE OF MY MEN""

The monument is in a very small park in Kansas City. It is dedicated to Major Murray Davis who fought in the first World War in 1918. It has three parts. The largest and centerpiece of the memorial is in the middle which features his name and his lasting memories. Then, two smaller block, followed by a small white wall encompass the park into a semi circle enclosure These blocks have the names of the districts and infantries he was from.
