[FR] Karl Hotz, a German military engineer, was slain on October 20, 1941, by a communist commando. Two days after the assault, the German occupier proceded to execute 48 prisoners in Nantes, Châteaubriant and at mont Valérien.

The monument is made of a metallic spire, formed by four needles, around which are positioned two coppper statues of women : the one on the right symbolising the Resistance drawing a sword hidden underneath her cloak, the other symbolizing France reborn holding an ear of wheat.

The ensemble rests on a base of blue granite on which are engraved the names of the 48 executed hostages.
