Central High is the main high school for Independence, Monmouth and the surrounding farming areas. It has a student body of about 870 in grades 9-12. The southern edge of the campus is the main road between Indep-endence and Monmouth, and when much of the campus was rebuilt in 2009-10, an events board was added along that road. The board is run by students (with supervision), so the computer will occasionally crash during gaps in the schedule, and an error message will remain on display for a few days.
