The Queen Mine was a historically important copper mine in the southern central area of Arizona. Although the mine has been closed since the mid-1970s, the concept of offering public tours of a portion of this famous mine has given the Bisbee community a present link to its past glory and importance to the local area. The Queen Mine Tours are held daily, several times a day. Reservations through the internet are the best way to assure a place on any of the 4 tours given throughout the day. See the Queen Mine webpage for the details of times and cost.

While preparing to visit the Queen Mine at 478 Dart Rd., Bisbee, AZ, plan to bring two quarters and one shiny penny ($0.51) to use in this penny smasher. The clerk at the Gift Shop will also give you change for a dollar bill so you can use the penny smasher, but it is best to come prepared.

When entering the front door into the Queen Mine Tours building, this penny smasher is to the right of the doorway as you enter the building. The smashing device has four design selections: a pick ax crossed with a shovel; an image of a stick of dynamite with the words "Have a Blast"; a pack mule; and the text "Queen Mine Tours." Each of these selections also had the "Queen Mine Tours" and "Bisbee, Arizona" along the edges of the smashed penny.
